Do Not Purchasing Generic "Work From Home" Leads
Purchasing leads from lead vendors seems like a good idea because you don't have to worry about marketing and within hours "highly qualified work from home leads" start flowing to you. On the surface it sounds good, but in reality it will destroy your business! There was a time when purchased leads were a good deal... you could actually sponsor people from them. But that was years ago.
I won't go into all details as to why they don't work, but trust me on this one. Jason Wells and I have personally worked with all the big lead vendors over the years. We know the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Their focus is selling you the leads, not generating high quality leads.
Do Not Waste Money on Lead Generation Systems
There are quite a few MLM affiliate lead generation systems that promise to generate you hundreds of free leads and earn 13 different affiliate checks every month. If you follow their instructions, you will make sales and affiliate checks. At first, it'll seem great because you're making a couple hundred dollars in affiliate commissions.
This looks really good on the surface, but they are really designed to sell the MLM affiliate system and guru, not you and your USANA business. When you make a sale of the system to a lead, you're selling the guru and that system... not you!
Now, I've never personally used one of these systems because they always looked like a bad deal to me. However, many of my USANA friends have used these various systems and have gotten no results in their USANA business.
One USANA Associate already had a well established 6 figure business. He built most of his business through his personal network. He joined a very popular MLM affiliate system and recruited over 100 MLM distributors from other companies. To be clear he recruited them into the marketing system, not USANA.
He later told me that not a single one of those people joined USANA and after 6 months all but a handful had quit the MLM Affiliate system. He was getting no affiliate income and no USANA sponsorships. He later commented that he would have gotten a better ROI if he stuck with what he had been doing before the affiliate marketing system.
I could list off 50 more stories like that. I wanted to share the story of an already successful USANA leader.
Bottom line... avoid those MLM affiliate systems if you really want to build a USANA business. I can tell you from experience, affiliate income doesn't stack up to USANA residual income.
Brand Yourself to Generate USANA Leads
You're probably wondering what the heck you should do then! The answer is to brand yourself. You put the spotlight on you and your skills. You can't put up a website that says "I'm a USANA Associate... come join my business!" That would be nice, but it doesn't work that way. Also, USANA's Compliance department doesn't allow Associates below the rank of Gold Director to do things like that.
Rather you need to put the focus on you, your skills and why you joined USANA. In our communication training we talk about the Develop step and "building the bridge" for your prospects. Well your website and brand need to do the same thing.
For example, my website, www.ChrisLopez.Me, focuses on the changing economy and job market. I joined USANA while I was in college because I saw the writing on the wall about having a good paying job. The "Economy 2.0" eBook I wrote talks about the various things that led me to doing something other than the traditional career path.
It "builds the bridge" for a person who is looking for a different career path. Once someone reads it, I can preset USANA on a silver platter. :)
Learn Real Internet Marketing Skills for USANA Leads
Designing a website, writing an eBook and getting traffic (people) to your site takes time to learn and implement. If you want to generate leads online, that's what you have to do. The days of throwing up a simple capture page are over. You need to have a fully developed website, content and marketing skills to get people to your site.
Learning these skills are an investment. You won't learn them over night. They will take time and money to learn. But all good skills are that way!
Once you become a real marketer you'll be able to generate leads when you want to and be 100% in control.

Getting Plugged Into the "Right" System for Your USANA Business
There's a lot to getting a good website up and running. You need all of this:
- Website platform
- Hosting company
- Email auto-responder
- Video hosting
- Capture page system
- Contact Manager
- and a whole lot more!
There's a lot of great platforms out there that provide those services. However, it gets expensive subscribing to them all and takes a lot of time getting them all connected.
When something breaks (which it always does), you have no one to call!

All the time there are new USANA systems coming out. Every time one comes out, Jason and I make a bet with each other on how long it'll last before it dies. The sad thing is that when the system dies, so do many Associates' businesses.
