USANA Effort - What Does it Really Take to Build a USANA Business?

One of the most common USANA Questions from potential USANA Associates is "How much effort and time do I need to put into USANA to get results?"  This is a very loaded question with no simple answer.  If someone tells you there is a simple answer, then they are full of B.S.!

What Are Your Goals With USANA?

This is the first area that needs to be determined.  It'll require more effort and time from someone who wants to create a full time income than a person who wants to get his or her products paid for each month.

So, what is your USANA income goal?  $500/mo, $5,000/mo or $15,000/mo?

As with any job or business, the more you want to earn, the more you'll have to put into it.

Compare USANA to Traditional Businesses

I want to draw this comparison because many people have the expectation (or their upline leads them to believe) that they will be making HUGE money within months of starting their USANA business.  Unless you're a career MLMer who is brining thousands of downline from another company, that isn't going to happen.

It typically takes an owner of a traditional business between 2 to 5 years to become profitable.  Remember, that usually means a huge investment (often in the 6 figures), a lot on the line (like mortgaging the house) and working like a dog (10 to 14 hour days, 6 days a week) for the first couple of years.

USANA can provide a great income like a traditional business, but without all the risk and crazy hours.   However, it's going to take time to get the cash flow to where you want it.

A reason many people in USANA don't succeed is because they don't treat it like a business.  Let's be real, there's a big difference between putting $1,250 into starting a USANA business with the Professional Package than there is putting $125,000 into a traditional business.  The $125,000 is a lot more "skin in the game!"

How Much Effort Are You Really Putting Into Your USANA Business?

Another factor (and this probably the biggest one) is how much effort are you really going to put into USANA.  Many people tell Jason and I that "I'm going be your best USANA downline and do everything you say!"  We love the enthusiasm, but talk is cheap.  Action speaks way louder.

Often times those people fizzle out and don't put in the effort like they promised. Building a USANA business is like getting into shape and going to the gym.  It's all about results.  You can't fake getting into shape.  You only get into shape by consistently working out, eating right, etc.

With that said, you can't fake building USANA.  The more consistent effort you put in, the more results you will get.

How Much Are You Bringing to the Table?

The background you have and skills you bring to the table will play a factor into building a USANA business.  Jason Wells already had a lot of business experience before joining USANA.  That helped him build his USANA business faster.

I, on the other hand, brought zero business skills to the table when I joined USANA.  A big part of my learning curve was learning basic business skills and not letting my emotions run rampant every time someone said no.

The great news is that it doesn't matter what (if any) skills or business background you bring to the table.  We can teach you all the USANA skills that you need to know in order to build a USANA business. Just understand that it will have an impact as well.

Now with all that said...

Guidelines for Building a USANA Business

Years ago, USANA published a statistic that it took about 3 years and 3 months for the average Gold Director to become a Gold Director.  A Gold Director is a major leadership level and often times equates to a full time income.  Now, I don't know if the 3 years and 3 months average is still relevant as that was from about 7 years ago.  However, I took just a little big longer to become a Gold Director.

Plan on putting in 5 to 15 focused hours a week to build your USANA business. Focused is bolded because you need to be doing money making activities.  You can't just do busy work.

Set a 5 year goal if you want to establish a "True Wealth" with USANA. In one of Robert Kiyosaki's books he said something along the lines of, "Find a good MLM company, with a good product, sales training and team and work it at for 5 years... no matter what." That advice made sense to me since I was going college at the time and everyone was putting 4 to 5 years into getting a degree before they could hope to start making money with it.
