But, a close second is lack of a marketing budget.
Now, when I say this, people often think I mean buying leads, internet marketing, because in many ways I'm known for building this way. Actually, I don't believe in leads bought from those big companies that we are all aware of. In fact, I say stay away from them.
Although I recommend traffic cooperatives where we generate traffic to websites, marketing budget could be money set aside for buying extra product such as Healthpaks, Rev3 stick packs, etc and sampling them to people.
The first objection I get is: "Jason, I would love to put more money into my USANA business, but I just don't have the money." Outside of very small percentage of people who are absolutely financially destroyed, I call "B.S." on that. Everyone can put something into their marketing budget.
How much do you spend on coffee out in a week?
How much do you spend on cable TV and is it really worth it?
Do you have to go to the movies or could you rent in or use Netflix?
How often do you eat out?
Do you pack a lunch or eat lunch out?
I can go on and on, but the reality is that you may have to change part of your life and the things you enjoy (this is called sacrifice) if you want to achieve financial freedom from USANA in future.
If are you putting money into your marketing budget now, then great. Congratulations. Now, my question is can you do more? Also, don't put money into marketing for three to six months. Commit to a budget (and commit to putting more and more as the money comes in) for the long-term and never stop spending money on marketing.
A general rule of thumb is that the more you spend (if effective) and the more consistent you spend, the faster your business will grow. This is true with any business and especially a sales type business like USANA.
Good post. Thinking you can promote a business without a marketing budget is like trying to make an omelet without a skillet. It's just unrealistic.
