USANA Compensation Plan: Comparing Comp Plans with Different Companies!

One of my team members emailed in a great question to me:

I am talking to a friend who is in Market America.
He said he chose Market America over USANA because Market America compensation plan is vertical, while USANA is horizontal.

Are you able to explain this to me?
Don't worry I won't leave USANA even if vertical is better. I'm proud to represent USANA and know I'm offering the best there is :)

Just trying to get more educated to address topics like this one.

 You've probably had a similar experience while building USANA. You talk with someone who's in a different company and they want to start comparing compensation plans. Or they throw around fancy lingo like "Vertical vs Horizontal." What the hell do you do with those people? The goal of this video and blog entry is teach you that.

MLM companies compensation plans are already complex. When you start comparing compensation plans, well, things get a lot more complex. To have a meaningful conversation with someone you need to understand the basics of USANA's compensation plan.

This should come as no surprise, but ask questions first! 

Three reasons for asking questions:

  1. You need to understand what the person is actually talking about before you get into a discussion. 
  2. This will prevent you from getting into a "my comp plan has this" argument that just has both of you saying something, but no one listening.
  3. To see if the person actually has a clue to what the hell he or she is talking about. Many network marketers will spout sexy phrases they have heard from their upline... but have no clue to what it means. Usually they have no real knowledge of the topic either.
I cannot say this enough: Ask questions first!

Depending on your experience in the MLM industry you may know a lot or a little bit about compensation plans. Most people will need to do a little bit of research to understand the other person's compensation plan.

Sometimes talking and comparing compensations plan with another MLMer can be like talking politics at Thanksgiving dinner where everyone is talking, getting worked out and no one is listening. You'll have to make the judgement call on how much (if any) you want to talk with this person. 

I find it very effective to end the conversation with asking some questions or points that gets the person thinking:

  • If they have a bad comp plan... it may plant some seeds of doubt.
  • Whether they say it or not, it'll earn you respect... which can pay off big time.
Both of these can lay the foundation for them joining USANA with you.
